Listen to Whitesnake's Live 'Love Ain't No Stranger': Exclusive Premiere

Posted on January 11, 2018 at 7:25 PM

Whitesnake are whetting fans' appetites for the band's upcoming The Purple Tour live set with the release of another pre-release track — a new concert recording of their 1984 power ballad "Love Ain't No Stranger."

While "Love Ain't No Stranger" — which you can listen to below — is a page pulled from the Whitesnake songbook, the tour commemorated on The Purple Album celebrated frontman David Coverdale's tenure in Deep Purple, which lasted from from 1973-76 and coincided with the group's Burn, Stormbringer and Come Taste the Band LPs.

Due in stores Jan. 19, The Purple Album pays homage to Coverdale's classic past, but with a twist — as he's pointed out in a press release, the intention was to breathe new life into the old songs rather than try to compete with the studio versions fans already know by heart. Available on CD/DVD, CD/Blu-ray, vinyl and digital formats, the album finds Coverdale's current Whitesnake lineup in the midst of a flurry of activity; later this year, the group is scheduled to return with its first album of new material since 2011's Forevermore, tentatively titled Flesh and Blood.

"We’ve never had such an immense amount of positive material," Coverdale told Ultimate Classic Rock. "The songs are f---ing excellent. We have 18 or 19 extraordinarily positive, potent, juicy classic Whitesnake songs from balls to the wall to blues, to epics to ballads. It’s kick ass. It’s definitely got me fluffed up."

In addition to the new live and studio albums, Whitesnake will also be back on the road later this year, as part of a co-headlining package that features Foreigner as well as Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Evening. Check out complete details and a list of currently announced dates.
