W.E.T. – One Live In Stockholm
Written by Juliano Mallon
Since W.E.T. debuted in 2009, fans have been expecting a live album and, thank the gods, the waiting is over! The excellent "One Live In Stockholm" captures the band during a powerful performance at the Debaser Club, in the Swedish capital, delivering an avalanche of great melodic rock.
All their best songs are there – the colossal “Walk Away", "Learn To Live Again", "I'll Be There", "I'll Be Waiting" (from Talisman) and "Rise Up" are the opening number of Disc 1, giving you a slight idea of what’s to come, including a heart-breaking performance of "Love Heals" (that sounds huge and more powerful when played live) and the Eclipse’s classic "Bleed And Scream".
Disc 2, on the other hand, includes "If I Fall", "Shot", "Comes Down Like Rain" (dedicated to the late Marcel Jacob, one of the highlights of the concert), "The Great Fall" (from Work Of Art and performed by the supernatural vocalist Lars Säfsund), "What You Want" and the energy-filled "Brothers In Arms", as well as "Mysterious", another Talisman song.
And on top of it all, there are two unreleased tracks from the “Rise Up” recording sessions - “Poison (Numbing The Pain)" is a powerful rocker, carrying the more traditional sound of W.E.T. while “Bigger Than Both Of Us", is an absolutely beautiful power ballad that, personally, I simply cannot understand how and why it was left off the album.
Jeff Scott Soto and Erik Mårtensson’s vocals are astronomical on stage as well as the band’s evident technique, featuring Robert Säll, Magnus Henriksson, Robban Bäck and Andreas Passmark.
With a tight setlist, a great band and two excellent vocalists “One Live In Stockholm” is a well-deserved treat for both ears and eyes, as the package includes a DVD with the full concert. A mandatory purchase, for sure!
